Do you LOVE living in the Shire?

The Shire captures the best Sydney has to offer with it’s famous ocean shores, breathtaking sea cliffs, iconic waterfalls and rich bush land surroundings. As Shire residents, it’s hard not to love everything about our local area and feel blessed that we live in such a beautiful place! When our team stumbled across an article on domain.com.au about the most desirable suburbs to live in, we really weren’t surprised that four Sutherland Shire suburbs made the top 100 on the list!
Kareela ranked 72, Woolooware ranked 75, Cronulla ranked 77 and Sutherland ranked 98 showing people from all over are falling in love with all areas of the Shire from north to south and enjoying being a part of the close knit community. The article stated that the Shire has the lowest departure rate of any Sydney local government area with only 4.3 per cent of Shire residents moving out in a 1 year period (between 2013-14). That’s half the average departure rate for councils across the city. No surprise there!
David Newton from Newton Real Estate says, “Once you’ve experienced the community vibe the Shire brings with it and the relaxed lifestyle, it’s clear to see why people never leave. Proving that people stay put and hang onto their slice of the Shire for generations is Colin Titmuss from Bonnet Bay. His mother and father moved from Earlwood to Grays Point as newlyweds in the 1950’s to raise their young family. 60 years on and four generations later, Colin and his ever growing family are all still living in the Sutherland Shire and have no desire to leave this magical place they call home. Colin says, “Most of our childhood friends are also still living either in the Shire or very close by so there’s really no reason to leave.”
